Missoula, Alberton and the Confederate Salish and Kootenai Tribes
March 24, 2011
• A large male black bear showed up in the Rattlesnake Valley in Missoula and broke into two garages. This bear is also finding plenty of uncontained garbage. Traps will be set for this bear in the near future. Allied Waste has bear-resistant garbage containers available for checkout for $10 a month. 
Black bear activity has also been reported near Alberton, MT.  
• Stacey Courville, with the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, has reported some grizzly activity and the tribe captured a black bear over the weekend.  

Rattlesnake

Bears are emerging from their dens in the Rattlesnake. A black bear recently broke into a garage. FWP will make an effort to capture this bear. It is time for everyone to secure all their attractants and bring in birdfeeders. If you have any questions please contact us.  

Blackfoot Valley

We have confirmed that there is at least one grizzly bear out of the den in the Blackfoot Valley.

Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks is receiving reports of bears out of their dens and bear tracks. Grizzly tracks have been seen on the Flathead Reservation, in the Blackfoot Valley and in Yellowstone. It is time to start thinking about securing your attractants before all the bears emerge from their dens in the spring. If you have any questions please contact us.
